18-Year-Old Killed In Single-Vehicle CT Crash

It happened around 3:50 p.m. Friday, March 11 in the Town of Haddam when the vehicle, a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, was traveling southbound on Route 154, according to Connecticut State Police.

While negotiating a left curve n the roadway (south of Landing Road), the 19-year-old lost control of vehicle, police said.

The vehicle then spun out and collided with a tree along the east shoulder of the roadway, said police.

The front-seat passenger, Steven Zichichi, age 18, of Killingworth,  succumbed to injuries that he sustained and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The driver, John Kowal, age 19, of Haddam, was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital for evaluation and treatment of injuries sustained during the crash, said police.

The crash is currently under investigation.
